Hi, I’m Jean-François, a software developer from Vaudreuil-Dorion, near Montreal in Québec, Canada. I built Origano because I was tired of recipes scattered everywhere and the same question every week: “What are we eating?” The other solutions out there didn’t work for my family, so I built my own.
It’s a side project I work on outside my day job, with genuine care. My goal is simple: to save you as much time as Origano saves me, automatically generating your weekly menu, keeping all your recipes in one place, and never having to wonder what’s for dinner.
Origano runs in your browser, no installation needed, and works on any device, phone or desktop. It’s fully bilingual (French and English). You can import recipes from any URL: Ricardo.ca, food blogs, cooking sites, from Instagram or Facebook reels, or from a photo of a physical cookbook. The weekly meal plan generator draws from your recipe books and automatically builds your grocery list. The Pro plan adds AI-powered grocery list cleanup, which removes pantry staples you already have at home.
Origano is an independent project. No investors, no ads. Features are shaped by real user feedback. The app is hosted in Canada and respects user privacy in accordance with Quebec’s Law 25 (Loi 25). If you have a suggestion, a bug to report, or just want to share how Origano fits into your routine, I read every message.
