Terms of Use

Last updated: June 2, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing Origano and using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not accept these terms, please do not use the application. Continued use of the application constitutes acceptance of any future modifications to these terms.

2. Description of Service

Origano is a web application that allows users to manage their recipes and plan their meals. The service is provided "as is" and is intended for personal, non-commercial use.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the service at any time, with or without notice.

3. Eligibility and User Account

To use Origano, you must:

  • Be at least 14 years of age.
  • Provide a valid email address upon registration.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of your password and be responsible for all activity carried out from your account.

You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account at info@origano.app.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the application for illegal purposes or in violation of these terms.
  • Attempt to hack, disable, or disrupt the application's systems.
  • Create accounts in an automated manner or for bot purposes.
  • Submit content that infringes the rights of others, including copyright on recipes published by third parties.
  • Use the application to send unsolicited communications.

5. Content Ownership

The content you create in Origano (recipes, meal plans, notes) belongs to you. By saving it in the application, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store and display that content solely for the purpose of providing you with the service.

Origano, its logo, name, and distinctive features are the property of Jean-François Côté and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Important note: If you enter recipes taken from books or websites, you are responsible for complying with applicable copyright laws. Origano cannot be held responsible for the use of content protected by third parties.

6. Pricing and Subscriptions

Origano offers a free version with limited features and a Pro version with advanced features. Pricing plan details are available within the application. We reserve the right to change our pricing with reasonable notice.

The features and limits included in the free plan (for example, the maximum number of recipes or recipe books) may be changed at any time. If the free plan limits are reduced, affected users will be notified by email with reasonable notice before the change takes effect.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability

The application is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Jean-François Côté shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use of or inability to use the service, including loss of data.

It is your responsibility to maintain a backup copy of your content if you consider it important.

8. Artificial Intelligence Features

Certain Origano features, including automatic grocery list generation and common item identification, are powered by third-party artificial intelligence (AI) models. These features are designed to assist with meal planning but do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or relevance of the generated results.

AI-generated results may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies — for example, incorrect quantities, missing ingredients, or suggestions that may not suit your situation. It is your responsibility to verify generated lists and suggestions before acting on them.

Origano and Jean-François Côté disclaim any liability for damages or inconvenience resulting from using AI-generated feature results without prior verification.

9. Termination and Inactivity Deletion

You may close your account at any time from your account settings. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, without prejudice to any other remedy.

Automatic deletion for inactivity (free accounts only): Free accounts that have been inactive for 6 consecutive months are automatically deleted. An account is considered inactive if no login has been recorded during that period. Before any deletion, you will receive warning emails at 1 month, 1 week, and 1 day before the scheduled date. Any sign-in resets the inactivity countdown to zero. You can download a copy of your data at any time from your account settings. Pro accounts are never deleted due to inactivity.

10. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the applicable federal laws of Canada. Any dispute arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Quebec.
